OMLT Conference in Hódmezővásárhely

Róbert Rédei | 2011. október 11. 7:39At the end of September the HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) organized the Operational Mentor and Liaison Team (OMLT) Lessons Learned Conference in the Hódmezővásárhely garrison of the HDF 5th “Bocskai István” Infantry Brigade. Concurrent with the event, the brigade commenced the mission-specific training of the 12th rotation of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT-12) in addition to running a training program for the sixth rotation of the HDF KFOR contingent.
Deputy Brigade Commander Col. Dr. Péter Lippai delivered the opening speech at the conference. He talked about the importance of the OMLT, also highlighting the forms and possibilities of cooperation between the PRT and the OMLT, which have different task schemes. Afterwards the representative of the HDF JFC briefed the participants about the process of lessons learnt analysis and the lessons and observations collected so far. The representative of the Peace Support Operations Directorate gave an update on the execution of the OMLT mission and the current situation.
OMLT 1/4 Commander Lt.-Col. Róbert Rédei and OMLT 1/5 Commander Lt.-Col. Béla Oszlánszki gave presentations on the observations and lessons they learnt during their training, tour of duty and the reintegration process.
Afterwards OMLT 1/4 Deputy Commander Maj. Thomas Moore briefed the participants about the lessons learnt by the fourth and fifth troops rotations, as seen from a US angle.
On the second day of the conference the specialist officers of the HDF JFC discussed with the US partners the planned schedules and venues of the national and joint training programs for the mission abroad.
Concurrent with the discussion Col. Lippai accompanied Gen. Smith to inspect a joint training session of the HDF OMLT 1/7, which was under way in the military training area of the brigade at Sándorfalva.
