One Team, One Fight

The soldiers serving with the 1.8 rotation of the Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team (OMLT-A 1.8) were recently presented with the NATO medal at a ceremony held in Khilagay, Afghanistan. This medal is a kind of paying respect by NATO to every soldier.

The potential recipients of the NATO medal are the soldiers deployed in NATO-led operations in Afghanistan and the neighboring countries.

After the three nations’ anthems were played, first Col. Antal Sipos, the commander of the HUN PRT-13 rotation gave a speech, then Maj. Shane Hartley, the deputy commander of the OMLT-A 1.8 was given the floor. Maj. Shane Hartley stressed that the soldiers had accomplished all their missions in the spirit of the motto “One Team, One Fight".

Lt.-Col. István Tóth, the commander of the contingent also gave a speech, in which he praised the soldiers’ performance and pointed out the international recognition of the OMLT. “OMLT troops! By mentoring the Afghan soldiers during training and combat missions, you have proven that you deserve their trust. I am very honored to have been able to serve with you!", the lieutenant-colonel said.

The NATO medals were presented to the soldiers by Col. Antal Sipos (HUN PRT-13 commander), Lt.-Col. István Tóth (OMLT-A 1.8 commander) and Maj. Shane Hartley, (OMLT-A deputy commander). The medal parade was closed with taking a group photo and a reception in a good atmosphere.
