Peacekeeping Training for Hungarian and Serb Troops
Szöveg: Capt. László Bojtos | 2012. február 19. 6:02This will be the third occasion that Serb troops – for this time, eight personnel – serve with the Hungarian contingent in Cyprus. They started their pre-deployment training in their country, and in its third week came to Szolnok to join the training program of the Hungarian contingent which is still going on in the HDF Peace Support Training Center (HDF PSTC).
The Serb troops are going to deploy with the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP). They will be assigned to the squads of a platoon stationed in the buffer zone, and will execute their tasks together with their Hungarian comrades in the same subunit. This means that during the training program in Szolnok, the Serb soldiers – beyond participating in theatre immersion sessions and learning about the mission-essential task list – are going to brush up their English too, because that is the common working language of the mission in Cyprus.
One of the key moments of the two-week training is the preparation for joint patrolling, and the Serbs are going to participate in the culmination exercise of the contingent as well.
“An international training program presents both the troops to deploy with the mission and their instructors with a special task, so we draw in the trainers of the HDF PSTC with mission-related experience", Maj. Róbert Nagy, the acting deputy commander of the Peace Support Training Center told us.
