Preparing for Service in NATO
Szöveg: Sándor Galambos | 2016. április 19. 9:04The HDF Peace Support Training Centre (HDF PSTC) in Szolnok recently organized a peace operations pre-deployment training program for soldiers to be posted to permanent duty stations in foreign missions. The training comprised theoretical and practical sessions and ended on Friday, 8 April.
The soldiers to be sent to perform permanent duty in NATO missions abroad learnt the basics of peacekeeping and brushed up their skills during a weeklong training program in the HDF Peace Support Training Centre (Szolnok).
The members of the training audience were introduced to the history of NATO, its set of tasks, organizational structure, most important institutions, military strategy and theatres of war with their current security risks. They studied international humanitarian law and counter-improvised device (C-IED) procedures, participated in fire safety and medical training events, practiced negotiating techniques, work with interpreters, media relations, map-reading and the use of GPS, and acquired the correct voice procedures to be used in the area of operations.
One special task during the weeklong training program was to retain the participants’ marksmanship skills. Accordingly, they carried out peacekeeping target practices No. 1. and 2., using pistols and assault rifles during the general marksmanship training held on 6 April. The same day the soldiers of the HDF PSTC – the personnel in charge of conducting pre-deployment training for the soldiers designated for service with foreign missions – also completed the target practices scheduled in their training calendar.
