Pristina: Portuguese Change of Command in TACRES Battalion

On September 25 a change of command ceremony took place in the Portuguese-led KFOR Tactical Reserve Maneuver Battalion in Camp Slim Lines, Pristina. At the TOA ceremony the outgoing commander, Lt.-Col. José Amaral Lopes transferred the responsibilities of his role to his successor, Lt.-Col. Paulo Alexandre Simoes Marques.

The personnel of the multinational battalion (MNBN) – including the Hungarian company declared to KFOR – lined up for the ceremony. COM KFOR Maj.-Gen. Erhard Drews, Lóránt Balla, the ambassador of the Republic of Hungary to Kosovo, Col. László Takács, the Hungarian Senior National Representative in the mission and Lt.-Col. Miklós Tajti, the commander of the KFOR Hungarian contingent (HUN CON) also attended the event.

Lt.-Col. Lopez delivered a speech, in which he said thanks to the HUN CON commander and the troops of the battalion for their excellent work, and praised the good cooperation between the two nations. He also pointed to the Hungarian personnel’s professionalism during joint task execution.

The new commander, Lt.-Col. Marques thanked his predecessor and the Portuguese contingent under him for their conscientious job done in the past few months, wished the soldiers to be rotated out every success, and promised that the new troop rotation will continue their work to the same high standards, noting that the personnel of the outgoing contingent have every right to be proud of their achievement.
