Rescue with Hungarian Assistance
Szöveg: HUN PRT-12 PAO | 2012. március 26. 9:16Rescue efforts lasted for three days along one of the busiest key commercial routes in Afghanistan. The troops of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT) also joined the disaster relief operation. The several-day snowfall caused serious avalanches that killed three Afghans and injured 12 people. The roads became impassable, traffic stopped, and the snow-bound vehicles queued up along several kilometers.
The Hungarian contingent was also responsible for coordinating the activity of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF), which took an active part in the rescue operations until traffic resumed on the roads and the Salang Pass became passable again. The participation of ISAF in the disaster relief works has earned recognition from the locals and the people living in the province, and further enhanced the Hungarian troops’ positive image.
