The Hungarian Defence Forces have been participating in the EUSEC RD Congo mission for years, with two personnel in each rotation. On completing his tour of duty, Lt.-Col. Mihály Nyitrai handed over the responsibilities of his position to Maj. Béla Lökösházi, who came from the HDF 25th Klapka György Infantry Brigade.

The EUSEC RD Congo mission entered the seventh year of its service abroad on October 1.
The specialists of this priority mission of the European Union have been working since 2005
to assist the reform of the military of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC – Forces
Armés de la République Démocratique du Congo).

Traditionally, two Hungarian officers serve with the advisory team of the mission in Bukavu.
After a general training in Kinshasa, Col. Nagy continues to train Maj. Lökösházi for the tasks
to be executed in South Kivu province, and also for the local characteristics.

Sándor Nagy has been participating in the work of the EUSEC mission for four years, leading
the advisory group of the mission in the eastern part of Congo near the border with Rwanda.
Currently, fighting against the rebel forces is going on in the eastern part of the country,
mainly in North and South Kivu.
