Rotations in Afghanistan

At the end of November, the 13th rotation of the Hungarian Defence Forces National Support Element (HUN NSE-13) handed over the tasks to the newcomer members of the contingent.

Led by Lt.-Col. Csaba Katona, the outgoing rotation of the contingent has successfully completed its six-month tour. After taking over the tasks, HUN NSE-14 Commander Lt.-Col. Csaba Horváth thanked and praised the outgoing personnel for their work and cooperation. Following the official handover-takeover procedure, the new contingent has commenced the execution of logistic tasks in support of the Hungarian soldiers serving in Afghanistan.

Another rotation took place recently in the HDF Support Platoon stationed in Mazar-e Sharif. The present one has already been the second troop rotation of the contingent drawn from the HDF 2nd vitéz Bertalan Árpád Special Forces Regiment. Therefore, the deploying personnel are adequately trained for the mission and its characteristics. The primary responsibilities of the platoon are to escort and provide on-site security for Hungarian advisors assigned to the Afghan Border Police HQ and the Afghan National Civil Order Police (ANCOP), and also for advisors from other nations.

At the end of November, there was another rotation in the Hungarian ANCOP advisory team, which is also stationed in Mazar-e Sharif. Lt.-Col. Béla Oszlánszki, the commander of the incoming contingent is at once assumes responsibilities as senior national representative in the theatre of war. The newcomers of the rotation are not entirely unfamiliar with Afghanistan and the mission, because they have all served in similar positions before.

The 11th rotation of the HDF Special Operations Contingent also commenced working in late November. Incoming contingent commander Lt.-Col. Péter Faragó praised the high quality work done by the personnel of the 10th rotation under the command of Lt.-Col. Zoltán Takács, and thanked them for professionally preparing and executing the handover-takeover procedures.
