Serious Head Wounds Were Incurable

Szöveg: hm.gov.hu |  2010. szeptember 8. 12:30

“We lost posthumous Second Lieutenant György Kolozsvári at 5:30 GMT in the morning of September 7”, Brig-Gen. (Med.) Dr. Andor Grósz, the acting director-general of the Military Hospital, Budapest made this announcement at a press conference held in the “Klapka György” barracks of Tata.

Prior to his tour of duty in ISAF, Afghanistan, the deceased war hero second lieutenant had been serving with the HDF 25th “Klapka György" Infantry Brigade of Tata. Brig-
Gen. Dr. Andor Grósz said the second lieutenant had sustained serious brain injuries that proved to be incurable even by state-of-the-art intensive therapy and neurosurgery.

Answering a journalist’s question at the press conference Defence Minister Dr. Csaba Hende said former Prime Minister Gordon Bajnai had made a pledge to commit 200 more troops to augment the Hungarian contingent in ISAF without making preparations. It has become clear since that the HUF 13 billion required by that commitment cannot be allocated. The new government is meeting the commitment in a way that is worthy of Hungary’s prestige, so currently there is HUF 5.2 billion in reserve in the central budget available for the ISAF mission, and the Cabinet is working to channel more funds into it.

Speaking at the press conference, the Defence Minister referred to an earlier statement made by his predecessor Imre Szekeres in which he said the defence budget did not include the necessary financial means for augmenting the Hungarian military contingent in Afghanistan.
