Seventy Hungarian soldiers have arrived in Hohenfels Training Area, Germany. This is the first time that Hungarian soldiers have opportunity to train for battle command in an international environment.

The event has special significance because the Hungarian soldiers can put into practice the principle of collective defence, which is enshrined in Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty.

Hungary is represented on the exercise by the officers of the Hódmezővásárhely garrison of the HDF 5th “Bocskai István" Infantry Brigade, the largest land force unit of the HDF Joint Force Command. They will make good use of the lessons learned here during the NATO CREVAL which is scheduled to take place this autumn.

Altogether 1600 troops have started in Germany the first large-scale international exercise of the year lasting until the end of January. The objective of this exercise is to provide key military leaders of participating NATO member countries with opportunity to coordinate their activities.
