Skill Retention Training

Zsolt Pető | 2017. június 7. 9:00In accordance with the training program of the Hungarian–Italian–Slovenian Multinational Land Force (MLF), an international training event recently took place at the HDF Medical Center in Budapest for the personnel of the European Union Defence Cooperation Initiative Battle Group (EU DECI BG) involved in medical evacuation.
The event was attended by the chief medical officer and assistant chief medical officer of the EU DECI Battlegroup which is currently on standby, and the personnel of the PECC. Col. Dr. Péter Vekszler gave a briefing on the opportunities and professional courses provided by the NATO Centre of Excellence for Military Medicine (MILMED COE), and Capt. József Kiss introduced the PECC training and the current lessons learned. In his presentation, Col. Dr. András Sándor Szabó chief flight surgeon of the Hungarian Defence Forces gave an update on the international regulations for aeromedical evacuation.
The participants of the training event summed up and evaluated the lessons learned on Exercise “European Wind 2016", on the basis of which the participants compiled a report that includes proposals on medical evacuation for the MLF nations, and made recommendations for modifying standing operating procedures.
During the training event, the participants were shown round and learned about the Military Hospital as well.
At a defence ministerial meeting held in Luxembourg on 15 April 2014, ministers of five nations signed the Defence Cooperation Initiative (DECI). Under the agreement, based on the the Italian-led MLF and together with Austria and Croatia, the five nations provide the European Union Battle Group in the first half of 2017.
