Heavy Airlift Wing: 12.000 flight hour

The 12.000 flight hour mark was passed by HAW C-17 aircraft SAC 01 on a Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian combined mission on Wednesday November 13th.

The achievement comes six and a half months after the C-17 fleet of the multinational wing reached 10.000 flight hours on April 2, 2013.

Since its launch in July 2009 the Heavy Airlift Wing has carried out over 840 missions delivering over 36.220 tons (79.9 million pounds) of cargo and carrying over 47.000 passengers to serve the airlift needs of its 12 member nations.

Heavy Airlift Wing declared Full Operational Capability in November 2012. During year 2013 HAW has flown over 2800 flight hours and is expected to reach 3165 annual flying hours – meeting the target amount set to it by the SAC member nations.
