Strategic Airlift Capability Heavy Airlift Wing Supports a US – Hungarian Airfield Seizure Exercise in Pápa

Between 22 February and 3 March several locations in Western Hungary act as venues for Warlord Rock 2015, a joint exercise involving the militaries of Hungary and the United States. As a part of the event, HDF Pápa Air Base hosted an airfield seizure exercise on 26 February with a Strategic Airlift Capability C-17 aircraft participating in the airlift support of the joint operations of the two SAC nations.

SAC Spring Fun Run Moves Pápa for the Third Time

Keep Calm and Refuel

Air refueling operations are everyday business for air forces needing to reach distant locations worldwide without the possibility of landing for refueling. Filling up in the air is also an important skill for the C-17 aircrews of the Strategic Airlift Capability Heavy Airlift Wing. According to 1Lt Nikolay Chaprazov, a HAW C-17 aircraft commander, a successful refueling mission is an outcome of good training, coordination, and a calm attitude towards the demanding task.

A Service and a Wash, Please!

The Strategic Airlift Capability Heavy Airlift Wing has taken another step forward towards becoming an increasingly independent C-17 Globemaster operator in terms of aircraft maintenance. During winter and spring 2013, Home Station Checks for SAC Boeing C-17 Globemaster III aircraft have been performed for the first time at the wing home field, Pápa Air Base.
