For its performance of historical importance the Hungarian Heritage Award was presented to the Hungarian military cartography, whose inheritor today is the HDF Geoinformation Service (HDF GEOS). The awards ceremony staged on December 17 in the Banquet Hall of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences was highlighted with the presence of Minister of Defence Dr. Csaba Hende.

At the 65th Awards Ceremony of this year the attendees observed a one-minute silence to pay tribute to the memory of the founders of the Hungarian Heritage and Europe Association (MÖEE), multiple champion Ágoston Schulek, the genius builder of the sports and community life, who meanwhile departed, and Imre Makovecz, the “nation-builder architect".

The event was opened by Professor and Academician József Hámori, the founding member of the Professors’ Batthyány Circle, the Chairman of the MÖEE Evaluation Committee. The Hungarian Heritage Award won for the performance of historical performance was taken over by Col. (Eng.) László Tóth, the Chief of Service of the HDF GEOS.

The extraordinary high preparedness in the field of military history and military engineering is given proof every day by the cartographers of the HDF, already in a digital way, too. The successors keep the commitment of the predecessors; they preserve and cherish the professional values.

The Hungarian military cartography has performed such a high standard activity in the past 90 years that is ranked among the best in all international comparisons.
