Organized by the 3rd NATO Signal Battalion (3NSB) and conducted by the 6th company of the 3NSB (3NSB DCM-F), the main objective of the training was to let the Hungarian participants acquire thorough theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the use of the LINC-E equipment, which they will be tasked to operate at the next NATO exercise Steadfast Cobalt.
After the classroom instruction, the next step was the full installation of the LINC-E. In what followed, everybody was assigned some task matching their position, (SATCOM, landline, server-based, Helpdesk), which the members of the DCM-E carried out autonomously under the Turkish mentors’ supervision, drawing on what they had acquired.
The training provided the personnel of the DCM-E with the first opportunity to use the acquired knowledge and practical skills in connecting via the LINC-E Deployable Satellite Ground Terminal (DSGT) to the NATO secret wide area network (NS WAN) and the NATO unclassified wide area network (NU WAN).
