The Co-operation was Again Successful

The objective of the complex multinational exercise “Western Storm" was to practice the defence of the Deçani monastery. In order to develop co-operation, augmenting the MNBG-W forces, the Hungarian soldiers took part in the crowd and riot control (CRC) task during the exercise.
The task simulating a real-world situation began with a peaceful demonstration, but owing to the further escalation of the tension, the MNBG-W called in back-up forces. KTRBN soldiers – using the airlift capacities – went by helicopter to the scene of the exercise.
The Hungarian soldiers of KTRBN successfully handled the emerging situation, and appropriately applied the CRC-procedures practiced during the earlier preparations. After dispersing the “rebellious crowd" played by the Austrian soldiers, with the help of an Italian combat vehicle arriving to the scene – following the removal of the heavy roadblocks – the KFOR soldiers ensured the freedom of movement according to their tasks.
The perfect co-operation between the two great tactical subunits – the MNBG-W and the KTRBN, greatly contributed to the success of the exercise.
