Din of Combat at Tatárszentgyörgy

On November 3, in line with the annual training schedule the troops of the HDF 25/88 Airmobile Battalion conducted a live fire exercise (LFX) on the Tatárszentgyörgy range. The unit was present at the LFX at full strength, only those currently on their tours of duty on missions abroad were “absent”.

International CIMIC Course for Troops to Deploy in Afghanistan

The Hungarian Defence Forces were running the NATO ISAF PRT CIMIC Course for the first time, between October 10 and 14 in Budapest. Organized by the HDF Civil-Military Cooperation and Psychological Operations Centre, the course involved contributions from seven nations, as well as foreign and Hungarian instructors and students.

Mission Started…

The 11th rotation of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT-11) departed for the mission in Afghanistan at dawn on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 from the Debrecen Airport. Their task is to support the Afghan Government, to sustain the safe environment and to help the reconstruction in the war-weary region.

Opening Ceremony in Debrecen at a New Venue

The Debrecen-based ‘Gábor Dénes’ Electronics Technical Secondary School and Dormitory held the school year opening ceremony at an unusual venue: the students lined up on the parade ground of the Kossuth Barracks. The members of the command group of the HDF 5th ‘Bocskai István’ Infantry Brigade also participated in the event.

Farewell to Troops Departing for Afghanistan

On August 16 a farewell ceremony was held at the HDF ‘Lt. Ittebei Kiss József’ Helicopter Base in Szolnok for several Hungarian contingents leaving for Afghanistan and for soldiers who are going to serve in individual positions in ISAF. Defence Minister Dr. Csaba Hende and Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő, the Chief of the MoD Defence Staff also attended the event.

Citizenship Oath in Szabadka

On August 20 a citizenship oath ceremony was held at the Consulate General of Hungary in Szabadka. Minister of Defence Dr. Csaba Hende was the honorary guest of the event, who met with Consul General Tamás Korsós and the President of the Alliance of Vojvodina Hungarians (VMSZ) István Pásztor at the Consulate General, where 37 Hungarians – living outside the borders of Hungary, having applied for simplified procedure of naturalisation – took the oath of citizenship.

A Farewell to Hungarian Troops to Deploy to Kosovo

On Tuesday, August 2, a farewell ceremony was held at the HDF Lt. Ittebei Kiss József Helicopter Base in Szolnok for the troops of the fifth rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent (KFOR-5 HUNCON) that deploy to Pristina. MoD Deputy State Secretary for Defence Economy Dr. Gábor Márki and Deputy Chief of MoD Defence Staff Lt. Gen. Zoltán Orosz graced the event with their presence.

Summer Camp in Memory of the Bridgehead Battles by River Don

Between July 25-31, the military heritage section of the Hungarian Reservists’ Association (Matasz) organized a follow-on training camp at the Ócsa training base to commemorate the bridgehead battles fought by the River Don in the summer of 1942.

Head of the MoD Cabinet Office Gives Briefing on Military Career Model

The HR strategy and the new military career model were the topics on the agenda of the Commanders’ conference, held on Friday, 22nd of July at the HDF Joint Force Command (JFC) in Székesfehérvár. During the event Dr. Gábor Szarka, Head of the MoD Cabinet Office and Lt.-Gen. Zoltán Orosz, Deputy Chief of the MoD Defence Staff gave a briefing on the changes concerning the introduction of the new career model, adopted by the Minister of Defence.
