Troops Departing For Afghanistan Said Farewell In Várkanyar

The farewell ceremony for the second turn of the Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team (OMLT) to depart for Afghanistan was held on 22 June in Várkanyar, one of the most beautiful places in the town of Tata. The Hungarians, together with the troops of the Ohio National Guard, will be serving in the Asian country for six months, starting from July.

The Beginning Of Long-Lasting Relations

The delegation of Anciens Combattans, the association of retired French servicemen paid an official visit to Hungary between 6-9 June. On Saturday, the members of the delegation laid a wreath in the military cemetery of Solymár and on the memorial of the unknown soldier in Heroes’ Square in Budapest.

146 Hungarian Peacekeepers To Set Off For Bosnia

A farewell ceremony was held for the personnel of the fifth rotation of the HDF EUFOR Contingent in the presence of their families and relatives in Tata, on the parade ground of HDF 25th ‘György Klapka’ Infantry Brigade. The Hungarian troops will serve in the Balkans theatre of operations from 15 July until 31 January, 2010.

Recognition Of Productive And Devoted Work

Dr. László Sólyom, the President of the Republic of Hungary presented unit colours and accompanying ribbons to the Infrastructural Agency of the Ministry of Defence (HM IÜ). The colours were handed over by Minister of Defence Dr. Imre Szekeres on behalf of the President on 13 June on the premises of the Agency in Soroksári Road.

The Success Of An Army Lays In Efficient Training

The 14-week basic training of contractual troops enlisted in the military on 3 March has come to an end in Szentendre, at HDF Central Training Base. On this occasion, a graduation ceremony was held on 5 June, where Defence Minister Dr. Imre Szekeres delivered a speech.

Fort Taken Over By Military Families

Military families ‘invaded’ the Fort of Monostor in Komárom for the seventh time. They held this years’ national gathering on Saturday in the popular and world-famous building of the northern Transdanubian town and on the large green area between the stone walls. The tiny ones and the adults, the old and young, the active and retired personnel all had a good time.

Honouring The Memory Of Hungarian Heroes Of 1100 Years

On Hungarian Heroes’ Memorial Day, the Ministry of Defence and the Hungarian Defence Forces held a wreath-laying ceremony at the Heroes’ Memorial in Heroes’ Square and in the Heroes’ Cemetery Memorial Park in the new public cemetery in Rákoskeresztúr on 31 May.

On 29 May, the Hungarian Peacekeepers’ Day the Ministry of Defence and HDF Joint Forces Command held a central event at the National Military Memorial in Pákozd, where those who were present placed their flowers of remembrance.
