We were talking about Roma soldiers and young people of Roma origin preparing for a career as contracted or professional troops with Colonel Tibor Jóni, the official in charge of Roma affairs, of the Ministry of Defence.

“Pákozd Is The Symbol Of The Nation Joining Forces, And Military Honour”

The battle of Pákozd-Sukoró that took place 161 years ago was commemorated this Sunday, on the Day of Land Forces at the memorial on Mészeg Hill. At the festivity held on the former battlefield heritage military groups reconstructed the events of the battle.

Fourteen Memorial Columns To Honour The Martyrs

On October 6 a monument has been inaugurated at the military memorial in Pákozd. The Martyrs’ Memorial that pays tribute to the thirteen martyrs of Arad and Prime Minister Lajos Batthyány, has been erected by the Pákozd Military Memorial Committee on Mészeg Hill.

The largest scale training event of the Hungarian Defence Forces this year, exercise Deployment Direction 2009 has come to an end. The President, the Prime Minister, and the Defence Minister were also present at the water training ground near Ercsi on 15 September and watched the closing manoeuvres on the visitors’ day.

Beauty Queens In Military Training

Minister of Defence Imre Szekeres announced late July that the military off-road rally team, the Honvéd Dream Team Cheetahs will enter the 2010 Budapest–Bamako Rally. At the same time it has also turned out that another novice team, the Miss Hungary Tuareg Rally Team that consists of beauty queens will also enter the race the finish of which is in Africa.

The New And The Seasonal Influenza May Arrive At The Same Time

The medical professionals of the Hungarian Defence Forces have prepared for the wide-scale appearance of the new influenza, the H1N1, called swine flu at the beginning, providing medical care for the sick, and treating the complications – Lieutenant Colonel Dr. Katalin Meglécz, Chief Epidemiologist of the Hungarian Defence Forces told honvedelem.hu.

The Mutilated Memorial Has Been Inaugurated Again

Two years ago some hooligans mutilated the World War II memorial in Jászjákóhalma, taking with them – among others – the plaques bearing the names of the victims and the heroes. With the help of the MoD Institute and Museum of Military History the memorial has been renovated and the new inauguration ceremony was held on 16 September in the Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok county village.

The Camel And The Ancsa Were Flying Together

On the occasion of the sixtieth anniversary of transport aviation and the thirty-fifth jubilee of the introduction of the AN–26 transport aircraft in Hungary a friendly reunion was held this Saturday in Kecskemét, at the HDF 59th ’Dezsõ Szentgyörgyi’ Aviation Base. Hundreds turned up at the event.

We can prove that: on site the troops do everything in order to save the environment from any damage.

Retired Servicemen And Young Lieutenants At The Exercise

The press centre of exercise Deployment Direction 2009 has a lot to do these days. The officers and non-commissioned officers are in charge of organizing the program of the visitor groups, among others. There is at least one journalist or television crew every day and naturally, there are also regular visitors from the corps and the retired servicemen’s clubs.
