Exercise Deployment Direction 2009 was opened by Lt.Gen. Tibor Benkõ, Commander of the HDF Joint Forces Command on Monday afternoon at the former military water training ground near Ercsi. Similarly to previous years, the exercise that will last until the end of September is the most extensive training event of the Hungarian Defence Forces this year.

Swimming Across Lake Balaton In Ideal Circumstances

Nine thousand two hundred and ninety-nine: the exact number of people who swam across Lake Balaton between Révfülöp and Balatonboglár on Saturday. The fastest swimmer completed the 5,200 m distance in 1 hour 8 minutes, but of course, at this year’s Balaton Swim, which is the 28th in a row, the most important thing was not speed but participation.

Pontoon Bridge: On-Site Inspection On The Bank Of The Danube

On Tuesday, the engineering experts of the Hungarian Defence Forces conducted an on-site review on the bank of the Danube in the capital. The aim of the inspection was to clarify the issues related to the possible construction of a pontoon bridge during the renovation of Margit-híd (Margaret Bridge). The representatives of the Municipality of Budapest were also invited to the inspection.

Gliders, Simulators, And The Rehauled Military Courier Plane

In the last two years there have been a few weeks during the summer months, when besides the military helicopters and training aircraft, there are also some small civil  aircraft on display at HDF 86th Szolnok Helicopter Base. This is when the Aviation Preparation Department (RFO) of the Joint Forces Command, MoD Zrínyi Non-profit Co., and Honvéd Sportrepülõ Egyesület (HSE, Honvéd Sports Aviation Association) hold the Career Orientation Aviation Camp.
