“They Were Full of Strength, Plans and Ideas”

On Friday, 7 April a wreath-laying ceremony with full military honors was held in Farkasrét cemetery, Budapest, at the graves of Border Guard Major Aurél Dylski and Reserve Captain Csaba Cziboly, who died in the first peacekeeping mission of the Hungarian People’s Army. The event started at 11:45 am, the exact minute when their helicopter was shot down in South Vietnam 44 years ago.

Half Marathon Run in Afghanistan

The military camp in Mazar-e Sharif, Afghanistan was recently a venue of a special sports event. Fifteen of the Hungarian soldiers serving there “ran”, as they say, the 30th Wizz Air Half Marathon. True, it was not in Budapest but on the base of their service abroad where they started to cover the distance.

Hungarian Defence Forces Central Military Band Appears in Sweden

This year the musical festival Ystad International Military Tattoo – held with the participation of professional and amateur bands – was a huge success in Sweden. The Central Military Band of the HDF vitéz Szurmay Sándor Budapest Garrison Brigade represented Hungary in Ystad between August 4 and 8.

„Joint Commemoration Entails Joint Responsibility”

For more than a week, Hungarian and German soldiers were jointly restoring the Budaörs military cemetery, the largest graveyard in Hungary where German and Hungarian troops fallen in World War II are buried. The closing ceremony, coupled with wreath-laying and commemoration, was held on Thursday, June 11.
