Fifty-three graduating students received their diplomas at the Faculty of Military Science and Officer Training, National University of Public Service (FMSO NUPS) in Ludovika Square, Budapest on 8 July. The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chief of Defence Lt.-Gen. Zoltán Orosz.

The participants of the event observed a moment of silence in memory of the EOD
technicians who died in the Hortobágy accident. In what followed, NUPS Vice-Rector
for Science Brig.-Gen. Prof. Dr. József Padányi delivered an address, on behalf of Rector Prof.
Dr. András Patyi, to the students to receive degrees from the Advanced Leadership Course, and in the Military Leadership MSc, the Military Operations and Logistics MSc, the Military Maintenance MSc and the Transportation Engineering BSc.
In his speech, the brigadier-general quoted from Sun Tzu and Miklós Zrínyi, two famous military scientists.

According to Sun Tzu, a good military leader must have the following traits: he must be wise, trustworthy and consistent, that is, he should not expect his subordinates to do impossible tasks, he must be brave and strict, consistent in training and troop leadership, because that is the way to make sure that his men will trust him, and finally, he cannot fulfil his duties completely unless he is well-trained. Afterwards, József Padányi quoted Miklós Zrínyi, who wrote that “first of all, a good commander must be skillful and have military sense". “Military sense" comprises professional knowledge, learning and experience as well. He added that he hoped that the university has helped the graduates in acquiring the necessary skill level during the training process.

The speech was followed by the award of diplomas, and some students received acknowledgment. Afterwards, Col. Dr. Béla Tamási, a student who graduated from the Advanced Leadership Course with excellent results, bade farewell to the university professors and the students. “On this day, we have within our reach what we had dreamt about some years or even some days ago, in excitement because we guessed about how our reviewers would evaluate our thesis, and the chairman and members of the examining committee, and whether we are be able to carry out the tasks required by our commanders that we set to ourselves. With the greatest pride, I can state that yes, we are", he said, adding that “we must be aware that Hungary needs our knowledge and professionalism".
