On 3 February the ensemble left Hungary for Japan, and took it by storm in recent weeks with a folklore program organized by Folklore Report, which had also been performed in Budapest.

The dance group of the Honvéd Ensemble is giving 27 performances and 12 workshops at 23 venues in 44 days. The first leg of the tour was Tokyo, and they are now staying in Fukuoka, a town that is 1200 kilometers from the capital city. The closing performance of the tour will be held on 14 March in Tokyo too, where Hungary’s ambassador to Japan will be hosting the Hungarian National Dance Ensemble.

The dancers were met with immense enthusiasm wherever they have appeared so far. From to Tokyo to Kobe to Fukuoka, in cities and the country alike, the 40-person ensemble has been greeted with tremendous applause by audiences of close to 1,000 at every stage of the tour. The dance group will be staying in Japan until 18 March.
