The EUFOR Multinational Battalion (MNBN) carried out another battalion-level exercise in the settlement of Rajlovač, Bosnia-Herzegovina on the basis of the training scheme at the end of November. It is not a secret that the goal of the exercise was to enhance the cohesion in the Austrian, Turkish and Hungarian companies, and to increase their skills acquired until now.

The main task of the multinational exercise was to evacuate the personnel of the so-called LOT-house, to practice fighting in built-up areas (FIBUA), and to deepen the MEDEVAC- knowledge. The Hungarian subunit was given tasks mainly related to crowd and riot control (CRC) and medical support, but apart from this they took an active part in the FIBUA practice too.

At the ENDEX the Battalion Commander expressed his appreciation to all of the participating soldiers. He added that he could perceive by the attitude and task execution of the Hungarian subunit that they have been operating as a cohesive, unified company, which is due to the service members’ professional expertise and the commanders’ high-level leadership qualities.

After the military exercise the next major challenge for the Hungarian peacekeepers serving in Sarajevo was the football tournament named Santa Claus Cup, arranged on the first Sunday of December. The chief organiser of the sports competition, Capt. Dr. Ervin János Alácsi, the army chaplain said that seven teams entered for the tournament, and each of them gave an excellent performance. At the end, the first place was won in a hard fight by the joint team of the contingent’s staff and the logistic section against one of the teams of the first infantry platoon, and the team of the company staff finished third.
