Brave Warrior 2015: Start of Common Training

Szöveg: Lt. Andrea Demény |  2015. október 1. 9:00

The common training phase of Exercise Brave Warrior 2015 has started in the central training area of the Hungarian Defence Forces. During this phase, the Hungarian and American forces first conduct the scheduled training program individually on platoon level, then jointly in cooperation with each other on company- and higher level training events under Hungarian command.

As part of the cooperation between the two nations, there is an opportunity to exchange experience, mutually broaden knowledge and acquire procedural skills. In the course of this process, a US ROLE-1 medical centre is being deployed on the exercise whose practical lessons were attended by the soldiers of the staff support company of the HDF 25th “György Klapka" Infantry Brigade (Tata). They have already undergone combat life saver training, so besides brushing up their knowledge, during these practices they had a chance to learn some procedures that are different from those used in the Hungarian Defence Forces.

The Hungarian soldiers also participated in another training event, namely the Military Police (MP) preparation which provided them with a good basis for peacekeeping activities and patrolling. The soldiers of Tata are already familiar with these tasks too, since during pre-deployment training for foreign missions, they have practiced several times the core tasks of the US MP platoon. These tasks include the escort of captives, capture and detention, and the steps and methods for searching persons. The common execution involved a number of situational tasks such as the practice of procedures and methods used in case of attacks against Very Important Persons (VIPs).

Besides common preparation and training, the youngest battalion of the brigade was also actively involved in the tasks. As part of Exercise Brave Warrior 2015, the 2nd infantry battalion gives special training to the personnel who completed their basic training in Szentendre this June. The training objective is to enable them to acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed for the professional operation of the armament of BTR–80 and BTR–80/A combat vehicles of the unit by day – and also by night, with the use of night vision equipment. In addition, the soldiers of the battalion practiced tactical movements as well. The training program will be finished with a theoretical and practical exam.
