On August 24, four staff members of the department – Lt.-Col. Roland Maruzs, Lt. Péter Vulevity, Senior Advisor Péter Illésfalvi and Advisor Zoltán Zeller – also participated in the unveiling ceremony of a heroes’ memorial in Gyergyóremete. The MoD PRWMS funded a quarter of the costs of the monument.

Two days later, the Hungarian war grave care specialists attended an already traditional commemoration at Úzvölgye. The department provides professional support for the restoration of the military cemetery, where already more than 600 crosses have been set up on the graves, in memory of the around 1,000 heroes of World War I buried there. This year, the work of renovating the cemetery fence has also started and will continue into next year, just like the setting up of crosses.
