The aim of the visit was to review the situation in Northern Afghanistan and to discuss the main tasks for the next period. At the meeting, Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő, the Chief of the Defence Staff informed the German partner about the direction of changes in Hungary’s commitment. Afterwards, at a plenary discussion Maj.-Gen. László Domján, the commander of the HDF Joint Force Command (HDF JFC) debated some fundamental military professional issues with the guests.

As a strategic partner of Hungary, Germany assumes an active role in the capability development process of the Hungarian Defence Forces. Over the recent period, Hungary has cooperated closely with the German partners in several international peace support operations, and currently there is an ongoing cooperation within the ISAF mission in Afghanistan. In this framework, Germany supports the role of the Hungarian Defence Forces in Afghanistan with the recently provided military equipment, trucks and shrapnel-proof helmets.

As a new element of the Hungarian–German cooperation and as a result of joint efforts, the WARDAM-II mobile fuel supply system will be installed in Hungary on an international exercise.
