This year, the annual KFOR Summer Festival was held in the camp of KFOR HQ, Pristina on 4th June.

At the festival, the headquarters of the Kosovo Force (KFOR) peacekeeping mission opened the gates of Camp Film City to welcome the KFOR civilian staff, their family members and all soldiers serving in Kosovo. The troop contributing nations had opportunity to introduce their own countries at the national display stalls that were in themselves a showcase of the rich tapestry of culture and diversity that encompasses the KFOR mission.

Hungary was represented at the event by servicemembers of the 14th rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent (KFOR-14 HUNCON) and a national display stall prepared by the Hungarian Embassy in Kosovo.

One of the highlights of the day was a Hungarian parachute display, during which the members of the Hungarian Defence Forces military parachute team descended from the sky with the flags of KFOR, NATO and Hungary. KFOR Commander, Maj.-Gen. Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, and KFOR Deputy Commander, Brig.-Gen. Ferenc Korom greeted the jumpers on the ground.

After the opening ceremony, members of KFOR-14 HUNCON formed an ad hoc folk ensemble to entertain the audience. The Hungarian soldiers staged various activities for the younger age group visiting the camp. To the children’s greatest joy, some nations put their items of military equipment on display, of which the Hungarian BTR-80 armored personnel carrier (APC) was very popular among the kids.
