Range Day in Kabul

Szöveg: HDF KAIA FPC-2 PAO |  2013. május 8. 9:03

Members of the second rotation of the HDF Kabul International Airport Force Protection Contingent (HDF KAIA FPC-2) participated in skill retention target practices in late April.

The Hungarian service members fired pistols, assault rifles and machine guns – the weapons
they use for performing force protection duties – on the range of Camp Souter near KAIA.
During the range day they also tested the upgraded assault rifles and precisely adjusted their
red dot sights which make aiming easier.

This 25-meter long unusual range facility is built from concrete tubes, and allows three
personnel to practice shooting simultaneously in full compliance with the range safety rules.
To improve marksmanship skills, the field targets depicting human torsos are scaled down so
that they properly imitate targets placed at a distance of 100 meters or farther, as specified by
the compulsory target practice regulations.

Range officer 1st Lt. B. told us that “the soldiers have executed all tasks satisfactorily, and
the results show that the personnel’s marksmanship and weapon proficiency skills must be
maintained on a high level in the areas of operations on missions abroad as well."
