Sharif on 20 November, where they immediately commenced to take over materiel and
technical assets and to carry out their training and operational tasks.
The moments of the Arrival
The three-tier task system set a fast work pace: besides the daily advisory and report
writing tasks, in the afternoons and in the evenings individual medical, signals, and
advisory training activities were conducted. Getting familiar and practicing with the
weapons and combat vehicles used in theatre were an important part of the operational
training.
The finale of the work was the handover–takeover ceremony when the two commanders
– Colonel Zsolt Molnár and Colonel Zoltán Bárány – signed the protocol.
In his speech Colonel Molnár thanked the first rotation for their excellent work and
wished them a lot of successes in the conduct of their tasks.
Training started immediately
In his answer speech Colonel Bárány emphasized that the handover-takeover process
would not have been so smooth and easy had the leadership of the OMLT-1 not prepared
all materials and tasks with such prudence.
“We received top-notch help from those returning home and we are taking over a steady
base and knowledge, for which we are grateful to our predecessors. The first short phase
of the mission is over and from tomorrow on we have to carry out independently what
we have just learnt. I am certain that everyone will work and perform according to their
best. Our common objective is to completely execute our daily work and tasks and
also to return home in good health as a team having gained much experience," said the
commander of the second rotation.
On 30 November, the second rotation of the Operational Mentor and Liaison Team of
the HDF commenced its operational tasks to assists the designated staffs of the Afghan
Security Forces and to carry out liaison tasks between the Afghan and the International
Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) and the Regional Command North (RC – N).
