The peacekeepers have successfully carried out a so-called “starter” exercise that was ordered by the commander of the Multinational Battalion (MNBN).
The commander of the EUFOR Multinational Battalion ordered the implementation of a Full Operational Capability (FOC) Evaluation for the Hungarian infantry company on February 17. By tradition, this exercise is the first company-level test in the EUFOR mission after the rotation of the subunits. The objective is to evaluate the readiness and deployability of the recently arrived company.
At the after action review, the evaluators of the MNBN HQ formulated some proposals that enable any MNBN subunit to execute their tasks more efficiently in the future. As an unexpected result of the evaluation, the “greenhorn" Hungarian company also made some useful proposals for the other subunits already serving with the battalion.
Lt.-Col. Thomas Holzbauer, the commander of the multinational maneuver battalion told us that there is no reason to worry if the Hungarian company is ready to take action in a real-life situation like it did on the exercise.
At the battalion parade held after the evaluation, the commander declared the company to have reached FOC, and ceremonially handed over the battalion arm insignia to the Hungarian soldiers who have thereby become fully-fledged members of the MNBN.
