They Have Completed their Mission Proudly, Honestly and with Honor

Among other things, the general talked about the Hungarian subunit that participated in Exercise Silver Saber with excellent results and demonstrated that it is able to cooperate with soldiers of multinational units in carrying out CRC tasks even in critical situations. László Domján stressed that the contingent had excellently carried out the important task of establishing contact with the local people as well.

Of all the things requested at the farewell ceremony, there is only one which has not been fulfilled, as the homecoming troops numbered one less than they did when they had left six months before, the commander of the HDF JFC said with reference to Cpl. Zsolt Pászti, who lost his life under tragic circumstances. He added that everybody was shocked by that morning when the corporal – who died while asleep – did not show up to attend the morning parade. The soldiers and their relatives participating in the homecoming ceremony held a moment of silence to remember him.

After the ceremony, Maj.-Gen. László Domján told us that the neighboring Western Balkans region has strategic priority in Hungary’s security and military strategy – this is what gives real significance and outstanding importance to the work done by our soldiers in peace support operations.

Col. Attila Takács, the commander of the HDF 5th “Bocskai István" Infantry Brigade pointed out that the contingent has fully accomplished its assigned tasks. The lessons learned will be incorporated into the system of training.
