Training for Joint Military Operations

Hungarian, Belgian and Norwegian EOD technicians have recently attended an Initial EOD Staff Officer Training (IEODSOT) course of the joint EU Battle Group of the Visegrád Four countries in Szentendre. The two-week course is organized by a mobile training team (MTT) of the NATO Explosive Ordnance Disposal Center of Excellence (NATO EOD COE).

Memorial to World War I Prisoners of War

On Tuesday, February 17 the Russian Peace Foundation inaugurated a stone memorial in Tokod, Komárom-Esztergom County. The memorial is dedicated to those prisoners of war who were captured during the First World War and died in camps in the area.

NATO as the Central Topic of this Year’s Summer University

Attaché Marksmanship Competition – for the 21st Time

The MoD Department for International Cooperation recently invited the members of the Budapest Military Attaché Corps (BMAC) to a marksmanship competition for the 21st time. The traditional pistol and assault rifle target practice for military attachés was at once a competition, where they had a chance to show their skills in three rounds at Püspökszilágy range on Tuesday, April 29.

„Flying Tank” Found on the Edge of Seregélyes

Another WWII aircraft wreckage was recently unearthed in Hungary, which means that another victim of World War II can find his final resting place in his homeland, thanks to the wreck-hunters of the Szolnok Aviation History Display Site operated by the HDF 86th Szolnok Helicopter Base, who are responsible for researching the history and discovering historical traces of Hungarian military aviation.

Mónika Finds a New Home

Mónika, the Afghan stray dog has a new master. As a puppy, in 2010 she joined a Hungarian military patrol in Afghanistan. The soldiers took the friendly and faithful dog with them to the camp, where the Hungarian and American troops kept her as “watchdog and soulmate” for years. The dog was “discharged” this June, and a great many people volunteered to adopt her, so it was really difficult to choose the suitable candidate from among the numerous dog-lovers.
