They Have Returned Home from Missions

Thirty-six Hungarian soldiers have served with the UN Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) mission, while 17 soldiers and seven policemen completed their tours of duty in the Multinational Force and Observers (MFO) mission stationed in the Sinai Peninsula.

Eleven soldiers filled individual positions at the Regional Command-North of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF RC-N), and in the UN training missions conducted in Southern Lebanon (UNIFIL) and Somalia (EUTM). The Welcome Home ceremony for the just returned personnel took place in Szolnok on Wednesday, April 11.

Brig.-Gen. János Huszár, the Land Force Chief of the HDF Joint Force Command praised the work done by the personnel that has returned home from the missions. In recognition of their tour of duty abroad, the Minister of Defence of Hungary decorated the soldiers and policemen returning home from the missions with the “For Peacekeeping" Service Medal, and honored Lt.-Col. József Lajos Komjáthy with a memorial coin for his service.

The commander of the HDF Joint Force Command awarded tokens of appreciation to Maj. János Utassy, Police Maj. Ferenc Pfujd and Police Maj. Jenő Dohándi, Capt. István Nagy, 1st Lt. Péter Pál, SFC Zoltán Kalácsi and SFC Gábor Honti. He handed over certificates of merit to L/Sgt. István Dér and L/Sgt. Gyula Péter Szabó.
