A Message To The Children Of Another World
Szöveg: honvedelem.hu | 2009. május 22. 6:45The third and fourth class of Kazinczy Ferenc Member School of Radnóti Miklós Elementary School in Kincsesbánya won the competition launched by the Ministry of Defence in March. The program that Defence Minister Dr. Imre Szekeres will soon take to Afghanistan with him on a video cassette has been done and taped by 20 pupils from Kincsesbánya.
The video will be played in several schools in Afghanistan. The pupils of the 17 Hungarian elementary schools that had entered the competition have also collected donations for Afghan children, and the head of the defence portfolio and the delegation will take this 100-kilogram gift package consisting of more than 1,000 presents with them. Among the gifts of Hungarian children there are plenty of plush animals, toys, school equipments, for it was mentioned in the ministry’s call for competition that in many cases Afghan pupils cannot even afford to buy their exercise books.
Since Defence Minister Imre Szekeres visits the Hungarian troops serving in Afghanistan twice a year, it was decided in the ministry that they would use this opportunity to send presents to the schoolchildren of Afghanistan, who study in bad circumstances. Besides the 17 institutions entering the competition, another 4 schools contacted the ministry, saying that they don’t want to enter but collected donations. Among them there was a group the members of which are challenged: they made the presents for the Afghan children themselves.
The prize of the winning team of Kincsesbánya is a holiday in Balatonkenese: in July they will spend 10 days in the villa of the Ministry of Defence. In addition to the holiday, the children will also have a chance to see how everyday life goes in the military.
