“The phrase “Thank you” is too simple for that brave and professional act I have experienced day by day in the task execution”, said Commander Col. Dr. Romulusz Ruszin in Afghanistan. The 11th contingent of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT-11) recently held a medal parade.

The NATO medals were presented to the Hungarian troops on January 29 in a ceremony. They are proud to wear this decoration, through which NATO honors every soldier who takes part in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) missions.

The special guest of the ceremony was Brig.-Gen. László Szabó, the Chief of Staff of the ISAF Regional Command-North (ISAF RC-N). Also present were Ambassador József Nyerki, Developmental Advisor László Papp, Col. Tamás Fürst, the commander of the Hungarian National Support Element-Afghanistan, Lt.-Col. László Fábián, the commander of the Hungarian–US Operational Mentor and Liaison Team (OMLT), Lt.-Col. Peter Mirow, the commander of Task Force Mes and the representatives of the NGOs closely cooperating with the PRT.

In his speech, Brig.-Gen. László Szabó praised the high professional standards of the troops, and stressed the PRT’s international recognition. “In the theatre of war in Afghanistan, it is not enough if you are a soldier under arms – you must radiate humanism among the local people so that they can reach the much-desired peaceful condition as soon as possible", the general said.

The NATO medals were presented by Brig.-Gen. László Szabó, Col. Dr. Romulusz Ruszin, commander, Lt.-Col. István Megtért, Deputy Commander, Lt.-Col. Lajos Nagy, Chief of Staff and Capt. Miklós Oláh, Company Officer Commanding.

Col. Romulusz Ruszin delivered a speech in English, in which he thanked the superior for the assistance provided so far, and asked him for further support. He congratulated the soldiers on earning the NATO medal, wishing everyone a successful tour of duty abroad. The colonel expects the troops to show the same degree of discipline and proficiency in the next month that they have done in the recent period. “The phrase “Thank you" is too simple for that brave and professional act I have experienced day by day in the task execution", Col. Dr. Romulusz Ruszin pointed out.
