„We are very honored and pleased to see that after ten years, on its 50th anniversary, the BILC has come back to Hungary”, Deputy Chief of Defence Lt.-Gen. The mission of the BILC is “to promote and foster interoperability among NATO and PfP nations by furthering standardization of language training and testing, and harmonizing language policy. BILC supports the Alliance through the exchange of knowledge and best practice, in accordance with established procedures and agreements." To achieve these goals, the organization convenes annual seminars for experts in language education, where the lecturers give presentations to their colleagues about recent experience and new methods in the field of language training. Over the past 50 years of the Bureau, it is the second time that the seminar has been held in Budapest (the first time was in 2006).

Speaking at the opening of the five-day seminar, Lt.-Gen. Dr. Zoltán Orosz praised the venue, noting that Stefánia Palace has always been a special and important venue of cultural events. “I hope it will provide you too with a quiet and pleasant environment during your stay", the Deputy Chief of Defence said. He added that “cooperation and the sharing of lessons learned are highly significant processes among the allies, and proficiency in a common language is essential for cooperation. All partners are obliged to learn this common language at a professional level, as it provides a solid foundation for mutual understanding and effective cooperation."
