A basic computer course started on Sunday, November 20, at the Police Headquarters (PoHQ) in Pol-e Khomri, Afghanistan, for the Afghan policemen and soldiers, in the joint organisation of the Operational Co-ordination Centre, Provincial (OCC-P) of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT) and the Hungarian policemen posted by the Ministry of Interior to the contingent of the European Union Police Mission in Afghanistan (EUPOL).

The Commander of the HUN PRT, Col. Dr. Romulusz Ruszin commissioned Maj. András Krupinca, the Chief Liaison Officer (CLO) of the OCCP with the task-execution, while on the side of the EUPOL Lt.-Col. (Pol.) Tibor Kondás and Lt.-Col. (Pol.) Zsolt Dömöki took part in the joint efforts.

The opening of the course was preceded by several weeks of planning and organisational work. First an agreement had to be reached with the superiors of the Afghan policemen and soldiers performing service at the headquarters about the needs for the computer training, and only then followed the testing of the applicants.

Further on, they had to examine in what ways the co-operating organisations (PRT, EUPOL) can contribute to the successful conduct of the course. The financial support of the course was undertaken by the EUPOL, while the HUN PRT was responsible for the planning and the technical matters.

The computers used during the course and the generator supplying the necessary power for the operation of the machines have already been at the disposal of the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) thanks to the earlier projects.
