Change of Command

On 18 January, the United States Army Europe (USAREUR) held an assumption of command ceremony in Wiesbaden, Germany.

The host of the event was Lt.-Gen. Christopher G. Cavoli, the newly appointed commanding general for USAREUR. Hungary was represented at the ceremony by Brig.-Gen. Zsolt Sándor, the acting Land Forces Chief of the HDF Joint Force Command.

The event was attended by Commander for US European Command and NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) General Curtis M. Scaparrotti, as well as commanders of the European land forces of NATO allies.

The present one is Lt.-Gen. Cavoli’s s second higher commander position in Europe, after previously serving for two years as the commander for U.S. Army Europe’s 7th Army Joint Multinational Training Command in Grafenwoehr, Germany.

Lt.-Gen. Cavoli is the 40th commanding general of USAREUR.
