Change of Deputy Commander at NATO JFTC
Szöveg: Radoslawa Kubiczek | 2016. augusztus 4. 9:26The Joint Force Training Centre (JFTC) has just welcomed Brigadier General Ladislav Jung, Czech Army, as the new Centre’s Deputy Commander/ Chief of Staff (DCOM/COS). He took over the responsibilities from Brigadier General László Szabó, who had served at the JFTC for the last three years. The Change of Post ceremony, led by Major General Wilhelm Grün, the Centre’s Commander, took place on 28 July.
“Thank you very much for your warm welcome and hospitality for the last three years. Our work was really fruitful. We achieved a lot together" – General Szabó addressed the JFTC, the JFTC HN Support Unit and NATO Communications and Information Agency who gathered for the ceremony in the Centre’s auditorium. He also referred to the plans for the three years of service at the position of the JFTC DCOM/ COS he had presented during the Change of Post ceremony in 2013. “Continuity of effort, enhancement of professionalism, promotion of NATO values and strengthening the JFTC community – these were my main goals" – General Szabó pointed out and added, underlining the great cooperation between him and the staff: “I leave the assessment on what we achieved together in these four areas, to you".
Thanking his staff, the outgoing JFTC DCOM/ COS also reminded that it had been his first NATO assignment after three years in Afghanistan. “You all know that the first impression stays forever. Thank you for the opportunity to live, learn and work here with you" – said General Szabó and then turned to his successor: “General Jung, Ladislav, the staff is yours".
Major General Grün, who led the ceremony, underlined the importance of the DCOM/ COS function. “Commander and Deputy Commander need to be two faces of the same coin. For the staff it must not be visible who is in charge. We will make the same decisions, and we will give the same orders. We are twins" said the JFTC Commander and added: “Deputy Commander/ Chief of Staff plays a key role in the Centre. (…) He runs day to day business. And this is what General Szabó did with perfection during the time he had been serving there (…) He has provided leadership, but also advise and he succeeded to further develop this centre".
Welcoming General Jung on board, General Grün underlined that his new Deputy Commander/ Chief of Staff is fully prepared for this assignment. “You are perfectly prepared for both roles, the the Chief of Staff and the Deputy Commander. I am confident that we will be a perfect team in a very short time. I am confident that the Centre will not recognize who is at the helm of that ship, because we will be on the same sheet of music. I am really looking forward to working with you".
The incoming DCOM/ COS, Brigadier General Ladislav Jung, highlighted that assignment at the JFTC was a huge privilege for him and that he was looking forward to cooperate with the Centre’s team. “JFTC is full of very clever and experienced people. I am sure our future cooperation will be very smooth and fruitful" – said General Jung and then turned to his predecessor: “General Szabó, thank you for your warm welcome and for providing me with all high level information crucial to my work for the Centre. I am ready to start my cooperation with the staff".
