The Easter weekend was eventful for the sixth rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent. Besides executing the operational tasks, the Hungarian soldiers had other things to do as well. On April 6, a delegation headed by DLEC Vice-chairman Zsolt Csampa – comprising the members of the National Assembly Defence and Law Enforcement Committee (DLEC) and the National Security Committee – paid a visit to Camp Slim Lines, the camp of the Hungarian contingent in Pristina. The guests were accompanied by Lóránt Balla, Hungary’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Kosovo.

Lt.-Col. András Polyák, the commander of the contingent received the delegation and informed its members on the Hungarian soldiers’ tasks and the ongoing activities. The guests also learnt about their living and working conditions, then they saw a Portuguese–Hungarian CRC display.

After the visit, the life of the contingent continued in the spirit of the Easter holiday. On Good Friday the two nations’ troops jointly attended the Stations of the Cross around the camp, led by Catholic padre 1st Lt. István Rácz, who celebrated a mass in the afternoon.

In the evening of Holy Saturday, the peacekeepers of the two nations celebrated the Resurrection together at the Vigil Mass.

In the morning of Easter Sunday, the soldiers entering the dining facility were surprised to see the servicewomen of the contingent distributing ham, eggs and chocolate bunnies for Easter breakfast. In the afternoon the field padre celebrated an Easter Sunday Holy Mass. Monday morning the men serving with the contingent jointly greeted the ladies.

During the Easter weekend, several sporting competitions were organized for the Hungarian and Portuguese soldiers serving in Camp Slim Lines, Pristina.
