KFOR HUNCON Celebrates Mother’s Day in Kosovo

The first Sunday of May is about the celebration of mothers. The sixth rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent (KFOR-6 HUNCON) also marked the Mother’s Day in Kosovo. On behalf of the peacekeepers, Lt.-Col. András Polyák, the commander of the contingent greeted the mothers, presenting them with a small but touching gift.

The Easter weekend was eventful for the sixth rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent. Besides executing the operational tasks, the Hungarian soldiers had other things to do as well. On April 6, a delegation headed by DLEC Vice-chairman Zsolt Csampa – comprising the members of the National Assembly Defence and Law Enforcement Committee (DLEC) and the National Security Committee – paid a visit to Camp Slim Lines, the camp of the Hungarian contingent in Pristina. The guests were accompanied by Lóránt Balla, Hungary’s ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary to Kosovo.

Having successfully passed the first test, the validation exercise, the troops of sixth rotation of the HDF KFOR contingent continued their training program with helicopter training after the tasks executed on the ground.
KFOR-6 – This Was How It Started

Lt.-Col. András Polyák waved the unit colors during a ceremony held on February 26, and this act signaled the start of a six-month tour of duty in Kosovo for the troops of the sixth rotation of the HDF KFOR Contingent, who are mostly drawn from the HDF 5th ‘Bocskai István’ Infantry Brigade.

The contingent drawn from the personnel of the HDF 5th ‘Bocskai István’ Infantry Brigade to deploy in Kosovo recently conducted a several-day exercise to demonstrate the skills they have acquired in the course of the training. The KFOR-6 training battalion executed a number of tasks that may be required in everyday situations during their tour of duty abroad.
