This year the German town of Schwezingen and Pápa celebrate the 20th jubilee of their twin town relations. After its arrival, the German delegation participating in the commemoration paid a visit to the Air Base.

Inside the barracks, Lt.-Col. Gangler, Col. Keith Boone, the commander of the Heavy Airlift Wing (HAW) and László Szarvas, the Deputy Program Director of the NATO Airlift Management Program (NAM Program) Directorate introduced the structure and work of the organizations as well as the achievements of the Strategic Airlift Capability (SAC) program.

After the presentations, the guests saw an exhibition tracing the 75-year history of the aerodrome, then took a close look at the C-17 Globemaster III transport aircraft. Many people have already seen this type of aircraft in the air because Ramstein Air Base is near to Schwezingen. In addition, the members of the delegation saw a display of the vehicles of the Ground Support Equipment (GSE) which are indispensable for the safe operation of the C-17.
