Hungarian–French Bilateral Staff Discussion

The French delegation – which included representatives of the Ministry of the Armed Forces and the general staff headquarters – was led by Colonel Luc Pages, Head of the department for bilateral cooperation at the French general staff headquarters. The delegation was received in Hungary by Maj.-Gen. László Domján, Head of MoD Defence Policy Department leading a delegation of representatives of the Ministry of Defence and the General Staff.

At the meeting, the participants discussed the security challenges to Europe and the possible responses to them in the framework of NATO and the EU. The French and the Hungarian sides presented the results of the recently implemented strategic defence review and looked into the current state of bilateral cooperation programs.

In introducing the operational engagement of the two armed forces, the participants discussed their role in international missions and operations carried out in domestic areas, with special regard to the activities conducted in the interest of dealing with illegal migration.
