Minister of Defence Dr. Tibor Benkő Received the Italian Ambassador

During the meeting Dr. Tibor Benkő pointed out that based on the excellent military co-operation existing between the two countries, Hungary remains open to the further improvement of our relations.

He also appreciated the excellent relations between the Hungarian and Italian soldiers, as they jointly carry out their duties in several international missions, such as for example in Iraq, Afghanistan, or in the Western Balkans.

The Minister of Defence welcomed the new Italian Government’s efforts to combat the massive, illegal migration. Dr. Tibor Benkő emphasised that our country considers the threats coming from the south more complex and probably longer lasting, than the eastern ones, so it is of priority importance to adopt measures guaranteeing effective and long term solutions for these phenomena.

In addition to the current security challenges, the Parties also discussed the possibilities of co-operations between the two countries in the field of defence industry.
