The soldiers proved in Lesce, Slovenia between June 22 and June 24 that the Hungarian soldiers are among the best of the world in this type of sport.
While two weeks ago the team could stand on the second step of the rostrum in Rijeka, they won the first prize in Slovenia, in three categories. Captain Tamás Bánszki, W.O. Gábor Hirschler, W.O. Tamás Varga, Volunteer Operational Reservist W.O. István Asztalos and Sergeant Major Szabolcs Gál could step on the top of the rostrum not only in team competition.
W.O. Tamás Varga provided a superb performance in the individual competition – in the absolute category -, whereas Volunteer Operational Reservist W.O. István Asztalos beat all his opponents in master category (the age-group over 50 years of age). So the members of the team could return home from Slovenia with three gold medals. Based on the results so far, the team and W.O. Tamás Varga is in the lead in the ranking.
The series of competitions consists of six stations, the next one takes place in mid-July, in Peiting, Germany.
The accuracy landing competition series provides a good opportunity for the team to prepare for the 42nd CISM World Military Parachuting Championship to be staged in Szolnok.
