London 2012: Áron Szilágyi is gold winner!

The Sabre fencer Áron Szilágyi has won the gold medal in the individual competition of his “combat arm” on Sunday, on the 29th July, with that he gained the first victory of the Hungarian delegation at the London Olympic Games. Áron Szilágyi is a co-worker of the Zrínyi Média Ltd. since October 2010.

The team world champion of 2007, and bronze winner of last year’s European Championship Hungarian got to the final by defeating the Malaysian Ju Peng Kean, the Chinese defending champion Zhong Man, the German Max Hartung and the Russian Nyikolaj Kovaljov, in that he conquered the Italian Diego Occhiuzzi with brilliant fencing, with the result of 15-8.

Szilágyi has won the third medal of the Hungarian delegation. Previously two judo players finished on podium place: Éva Csernoviczki won bronze in the 48 kilogram category on Saturday, Miklós Ungvári won silver in the 66 kilogram category on Sunday in turn.

With the victory of Áron Szilágyi the Hungarian fencing sport gained its 35th victory on the Olympic games, while Hungary acquired its 161st gold medal.
