Matasz Members Enter “Berlin Wall” Patrol Competition
Szöveg: Árpád Buzás | 2016. május 11. 9:00The Berlin organization of the Bundeswehr Reservists’ Association (Reservistenkameradschaft RK 08 Berlin – Süd) recently organized the “Berlin Wall” patrol competition (Mauerwegmarsch Berlin) for the sixth time.
The competition was primarily intended for reservists, but active-duty soldiers, foreign reservists and civilian members of the association also joined the event. It was the third time that Hungarians entered the race, together with several other foreign competitors including the reservists of a joint German-French brigade and a Belgian team.
The competing teams sketched their own patrol itinerary to find control points where they had to complete tests of skills and stamina as well as military and disaster management tasks. These included negotiating water obstacles by crossing a dual high wire course, pulling a truck with a rope, carrying ammo and casualties, setting up shelter tents, throwing hand-grenades and constructing barriers out of sandbags.
Of the 13 teams entering the competition, the “national team" formed from members of the Budapest organization of the Hungarian Reservists’ Association (Matasz) finished fifth on the 10km march route.
