Zánkaland, the military technology park opened its gates on July 26 in the Zánka Youth Camp. Minister of Defence Dr. Csaba Hende, Lt.Gen. Tibor Benkõ, Chief of Defence Staff, MoD, and Ms Ágnes Bogó, the managing director of the Zánka Youth Camp delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. The equipments on display help visitors explore the history of artillery, the technology of armoured and other types of vehicles, aviation, engineering, and logistic corps.

Dr. Csaba Hende underlined in his opening address that the purpose of the military technology park is to help us explore, because since the abolition of conscription, people have had less chance to get in touch with the military and its equipments. Therefore they would like to give everyone an opportunity to discover again that being a Hungarian soldier is a calling, and people should also understand how important the work of the Hungarian Defence Forces is.

The 152 mm D20 howitzer and the 85 mm D44 division cannon are also on display in the Zánka military technology park. The SZM63 anti-aircraft missile launch system with the V755 Volhov rocket are real specialities. To those who want to know more about the airplanes of the air force, we recommend the MiG21MF fighter, the MI24D combat helicopter, and the MI8T transport helicopter.

Thanks to the newly opened military technology park, these veteran military vehicles and equipments are exhibited in a worthy location where they can serve the purpose of telling about the past of the military, and defence education. The exclusive exhibition reflects credit on the expertise of the colleagues of the MoD Institute and Museum of Military History.
