At the school handover ceremony, the ribbon of Hungarian tricolor was cut in the presence of the governor and the chief of police of Banu District, the head of the local office for education, the leaders of Yoch village and the those of the girls’ school. At the same time, the event symbolized the Hungarian troops’ wish, which is that the Afghan people can have peace and development. The so-called “nursery program" within the HUN PRT-11 contingent development scheme has thereby shown its raison d’etre, as with full knowledge of the local circumstances, we can safely say that the time of implementation of the projects largely affects the PRT’s success in Afghanistan.
The new annex was built behind a protective wall which has key importance with respect to security and Afghan cultural traditions alike. The protective wall ensures undisturbed conditions for educating children, schoolgirls in particular.
In his speech delivered at the ceremony, Col. Ruszin said that the development of education is a top priority among the tasks of providing assistance, both for the Hungarian PRT and for himself. Educating the children helps improving the abilities of the rising generations in the Afghan society, which can lay the foundations for peace and security around the whole country. Thanks to the knowledge gained by virtue of education, the district of Banu may develop further and become an outstanding region of Baghlan Province.
The HUN PRT commander concluded his speech by thanking the local leaders for their cooperation, which went a long way towards enabling the success of the project.
